Creative Journey to Madrid

Rosaleen is travelling to Madrid next week to an arts workshop hosted by Arts Organisation Debajo Del Sombrero as part of a longer term Erasmus + project called Expanding realities which will see exchange or ideas, approaches and collaborations  between GASP Cork, Art in Motion (AIM) Bristol and Debajo del Sombrero Madrid.

The project is coordinated by CIT Crawford College of Art and Design and supported by Leargas.  The workshop in Madrid will be a change to engage with new method and approaches. Some workshop will be focused on visual response to performance art while time will also be spent working on a large piece of work on an outdoor wall.

Public Engagement at the Sirius Centre

Rosaleen takes part in Public Engagement events at the Sirius Arts Centre for Generation & People-Tools-Cities.

During the exhibitions Generation and People- Tools- Cities, a number of opportunities for Public Engagement were organisied. Meet the Artsist Events, Coffee Mornings and Workshops.

Rosaleen Moore was heavily involved in the public engagement aspect of the exhibitions. Her work inspired the workshop activities and she was present at all the events.

Rosaleen worked as if in studio, set up in front of her work while the public viewed the exhibition.

Rosaleen spoke to the viewers about the concepts of her work and gave tours of both exhibitions.

Her paintings and process inspired some of the activity sheets used in the workshops. Participants were challenged to draw where they live from memory just like Rosaleen does with her paintings.

Opening Night @ Sirius Arts Centre

Generation and People-Tools-Cities opened on the 27th of March 2015 at the Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh, Co. Cork. Generation features the art work of GASP Artists, St. Luke's Nursing Home and Educate Together National School, Cork.  People-Tools-Cities features the work of Íde Ní Shuilleabhain and Rosaleen Moore.

Rosaleen Moore was one of the artists who kick started the opening night with sharing the ideas and processes of her work during a tour of the exhibition. There were open discussions about the work and positive reactions shared. This set the tone for more involvement from the public to continue.

Rosaleen in Studio #2

Rosleen's work is featured in a public participation project called Generation. She worked very closely alongside other artists, people of a nursing home and primary school children to create art work inspired by the theme of Age. Rosaleen painted images of nursing homes, the elderly and even transformed a Victorian Doll House with her paint. Here are her works in progress.

Rosaleen in Studio #1

Here are some photographs of Rosaleen's preparation for the exhibition People-Tools-Cities. As you can see, her process of work is active as well as focused. She explored the city looking for opportunities to paint landmarks of Cork City. She also likes to experiment in the paintings by adding fantastical details from her own imagination. The last picture featured is a large framed acrylic painting of C.I.T O' Sullivan's Quay photographed in front of the building itself.

The Work: Rosaleen Moore

A selection of acrylic paintings by Rosaleen Moore.

Rosaleen uses observational studies and photographs to compose her paintings, first by using charcoal to draw and mixing an abundance of bright coloured acrylic to bring her paintings to life.
